From Google’s Official Blog: Early last month the mayor of Topeka, Kansas stunned the world by announcing that his city was changing its name to Google. We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka . Google's Topeka Home Page The changing of their homepage to Topeka is obviously Google’s April Fools joke for 2010. However, unlike most recipients of April Fools jokes, Topeka, KS is laughing all the way to the bank with the global exposure their city is receiving today for being prominently featured on the most trafficked home page of the internet.

Smartphone usages continues to grow at the expense of “dumb phones”. From AdMob: * The mobile Internet devices category experienced strong growth, increasing to account for 17% of traffic in AdMob’s network in February 2010. The most popular devices in this category are the iPod touch, Sony PSP, and Nintendo DSi. * Smartphones accounted for 48% of AdMob’s worldwide traffic, up from 35% in February 2009, fueled by heavy application usage on iPhone and Android devices. * Over the last year, the iPhone OS increased its share of smartphone requests from 33% to 50% while Symbian’s share of requests fell from 43% to 18%. *Android was the fastest growing operating system in the AdMob network year-over-year.
